‘BBNaija needs to take a break and restrategise’ – Tacha

Former Big Brother Naija housemate Anita Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has urged the organisers of the reality show to take a break, restrategise and introduce fresh ideas to keep it relevant among Nigerian audiences.

Speaking on Arise 360 on Arise News, Tacha, who participated in the 2019 ‘Pepper Dem’ edition, said the entertainment landscape had changed significantly, with social media increasingly competing with reality television for public attention.

“I think they need to take a break, restrategise and just come up with something,” she said.

According to the reality TV star, Nigerians are now more drawn to trending conversations on social media than relying solely on television shows for entertainment.

“You don’t want us watching housemates on the show, meanwhile PSquare is giving us part seven of his family issues and stuff we want to hear,” she added.

Tacha explained that social media had become a major platform for public engagement, noting that people who previously avoided being filmed were now comfortable recording themselves and sharing content online.

She also suggested that taking a break could make viewers miss the show and look forward to its return, comparing the situation to a relationship in which time apart can renew appreciation.

“You also give Nigerians a chance to miss you,” she said.

Tacha urged the organisers to develop a more compelling format with fresh concepts capable of capturing public interest.

“They need to cook, like they need to try to do something different which will be much more mind-blowing and more interesting to Nigerians because Nigerians are hard to please,” she said.
